Love our Lake Day: September 20

August 7, 2015

Love Our Lake Day is part of an Open Streets Initiative, Oaklavia, to encourage people to play, to move, and to exercise on safe, car-free streets. It is a free event where participants are invited to come out and play, and to get to know local businesses, community resources and organizations around Lake Merritt from the Pergola into Downtown Oakland’s historic Latham Square. The event, a production of Walk Oakland Bike Oakland (WOBO), calls for a celebration of open streets around Lake Merritt from the Pergola into Downtown Oakland’s historic Latham Square.

Volunteers are needed to help support the event at intersections and along the route as Traffic Guides.

WOBO has expansive plans for Oaklavía in 2015, including a collaboration with Berkeley Sunday Streets. Sunday Streets Berkeley will convene on Sunday October 18, 2015 with a focus on strolling, dancing and playing on Shattuck Avenue from Rose to Haste.
