New GHSA Report: Everyone Walks. Understanding & Addressing Pedestrian Safety

August 14, 2015

The New GHSA Report: Everyone Walks. Understanding & Addressing Pedestrian Safety  funded by State Farm, provides an overview of current pedestrian safety data and research and discusses how states are using this and other information to address the issue. Taking a 3 “E” approach – engineering, education and enforcement – is essential for making gains in pedestrian safety.

This report is designed to help Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA) member states, safety advocates and others tackle the behavioral aspects of pedestrian safety. Sprinkled throughout the report are 21 key takeaways states should consider when examining their current pedestrian safety programs, policies and practices.

In California particularly, the publication spotlights UC Berkeley SafeTREC and California Walks Community Pedestrian Safety Trainings (CPSTs) and California Department of Public Health PedSafe programs.
