The Solano Transportation Authority serves the transportation needs of the County of Solano and the eight cities located in the county.
As an associate planner concerned with the STA's Safe Routes to Transit and Safe Routes to School programs, Sofia Recalde is concerned with identifying ways to collect data on walking and bicycling safety.
"Our pedestrian and bicycle advisory committees asked us what we were doing in the area of data collection," Recalde noted, "and so far we are using SafeTREC Transportation Injury Mapping System (TIMS) to look at pedestrian and bicycle collisions through the county and specifically in the cities, to find out where the incidence is highest."
