Nominations are now open for the Bay Area Bike Champion of the Year! This award is presented by the Bay Area Bike to Wherever Days, which in itself is presented and sponsored by multiple organizations, counties, and coalitions that encourage Bay Area residents to bike as a fun and healthy commute option. Bay Area Bike Champions have been honored since 2021, and they generally consist of cycling advocates, community leaders, educators, and policymakers who "go above and beyond" to promote cycling as a primary mode of transportation in their communities.

“Bike Champions of the Year allow people in each of the nine Bay Area counties to lift up cyclists who are making their county a better place to live and a better place to bike,” said MTC executive director Andrew Fremier in a press release.

Nominations close on March 1, 2026, and winners will be announced by the end of April. Visit the Bay Area Bike to Wherever Days website to learn more about the award and nominate a Bike Champion.
