Addressing Bicycle-Vehicle Conflicts with Alternate Signal Control Strategies

In urban areas, a common crash type involving bicycles at intersections is the “right hook” where a right-turning vehicle collides with a through bicyclist. While geometric treatments and pavement markings have been studied, there is a lack of research on signal timing treatments to address right-hook bicycle-vehicle conflicts.This webinar will discuss findings from the Addressing Bicycle-Vehicle Conflicts with Alternate Signal Control Strategies study, the first to explore bicycle signal control strategies for addressing bicycle-vehicle conflicts. Left-Turn Crashes Involving Pedestrians

This webinar is one in a series hosted by PBIC to draw attention to crash types involving motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians. One common crash involving motorists and pedestrians occurs when a driver strikes a pedestrian when turning left at a signalized intersection. Panelists will share what we know about this crash problem in terms of its prevalence and contributing factors. Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs)
