Register now for FHWA's Rural Road Safety Webinar Series

The U.S. DOT Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) recently announced the launch of their new Rural Road Safety Webinar Series for 2026. This virtual series will feature presentations and panels on innovative and effective practices to save lives on America's rural roads. Transportation professionals "working in State, regional, local, and Tribal transportation agencies as well as their partners will learn how to implement proven and promising strategies, tools, and technologies that accelerate delivery of effective and innovative safety projects and programs to advance a Safe System for all users in rural areas." For more details and to register for the upcoming sessions in February and May, 2026, see below.


Accelerate Delivery of Road Safety Projects in Rural Areas: Successful Implementation of Modular Designs and Materials

Time: 1:00pm - 3:00pm ET

State DOTs and local agencies will present on successful projects that use modular designs and materials to advance road safety and highlight policies supporting accelerated delivery of road safety projects. Presentations will focus on installing a modular roundabout on a State rural road, implementing modular pedestrian crossings on local roadways, and delivering a program to implement modular safety projects as part of maintenance. Innovative Funding Processes for Rural Road Safety

Time: 1:00pm - 3:00pm ET

State, regional and local transportation agencies will present on innovative funding programs, alternative contracting methods, and flexibilities to distribute resources effectively and efficiently across State, Tribal, and local-owned rural roads to maximize safety impact. Strategies will emphasize effective investments and program eligibilities, non-traditional funding sources, and systemic data-driven investments. Register for the May 21 session.
