It's August and that means school is around the corner! As we transition into fall and a new school year fast arriving with children and families walking and bicycling, it's a great time to discuss safety measures around transportation and the importance of sharing the road safely. Explore these upcoming webinars in August that will discuss strategies and methods for improving pedestrian and bicycle safety! Please be sure to register in advance.

  1. Motorist Overtaking Bicyclist by PBIC 
    Monday, August 6, 2018 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM PT // Register here // More Information
    Pedestrian and Bicycle Information Center  (PBIC) Crash Type Series will address common crashes involving motorists, bicyclist and pedestrians. PBIC and its partners developed a series of four animations, each illustrating a different crash scenario. You can view the animated crash scenarios here. To support these animations, PBIC is starting a series of webinars to share information about the crash scenario and discuss roadway, behavioral and policy solutions to prevent such crashes. 

    This webinar will go in-depth about incidents in which a driver passes a bicyclist too closely, either striking the bicyclist from behind or causing the person to lose control or balance. Tune in for this conversation.

  2. Vision Zero Coalitions: Successes, Struggles, and Lessons Learned

  4. Multiple Threat Crash by PBIC

    Uncontrolled crossing locations typically lacks traffic lights, and consist of multiple vehicle lanes. Pedestrians may be at risk of a “multiple threat crash,” in which one vehicle yields to a crossing pedestrian, while vehicle in another lane continues through the crosswalk. Tune in for this conversation and learn about strategies to prevent this crash problem.

  5. Moving Beyond the Centerline: Advisory Bicycle Lanes, Best Kept Secret by APBP

    Association of Pedestrian and Bicycle Professions  (APBP) is hosting a webinar about advisory bicycle lanes (ABL) and how communities are implementing them in their cities. The fee to purchase a site license is $50 for APBP members, $85 for non-APBP members. Each site license includes one phone connection (toll charges apply, or use VoIP), one Internet connection, one set of handouts for unlimited attendees in the same location, and access to the recording.
