New PSU TREC Resource: Nationwide Guidance on Bike Share Equity Programs

PSU TREC Bike Share Equity Brief

Portland State University's Transportation Research and Education Center (TREC) released a series of ten 2-page briefs highlighting best practices in bike share equity policies, data collection, and metrics among other topics funded by the Better Bike Share Partnership and the National Institute for Transportation Communities. This is a follow up to the 130 page evaluation on over 70 U.S. bike share equity programs across the U.S. where the findings showed that approaches to equity programs varied widely as a relatively new system of transportation.

This set of ten briefs were created by lead research Nathan McNeil and his team to "document the current state of equity programming for bike share systems" and "create a road map for cities and operators navigating questions of equity." As cities and companies experience a decrease in ridership during the pandemic, this resource provides guidance on meaningful results from equity programs.

Take a look at the following resources below for more information on the research conducted last year, the 10 briefs, and the webinar that will discuss this in more detail.
