2018 Sustainable Communities Program Grants

Applications are now being accepted for the 2018 Sustainable Communities Program through the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG)! The program recognizes sustainable solutions to local growth challenges and has resulted in local plans that promote sustainability through the integration of transportation and land use.

SCAG has awarded approximately $22.3 million in total funding to complete 203 local sustainability and active transportation planning projects.

The goals of the 2018 Sustainable Communities Program include:

  • Provide needed planning resources to local jurisdictions for sustainability planning efforts;
  • Develop local plans that support the implementation of the 2016 RTP/SCS; and
  • Increase the region’s competitiveness for federal and state funds, including but not limited to the California Active Transportation Program and Greenhouse Gas Reduction Funds.

Applicants interested in applying for active transportation funding can apply for these project types:

  • Community-wide & area plans
  • Regional corridor plans
  • Infrastructure demonstration projects (quick-builds)
  • Safety Strategic plan

The deadline to apply is November 15, 2018. Learn more about the program, details about each project type, program details and how to apply at the program website.
