January 2025 updates to "Pedestrian and Bicycle Crash Data by County" webpage

January 30, 2025

Available to view on our website, the Pedestrian and Bicycle Crash Data by County webpage provides pedestrian and bicycle crash data for all California counties from 2019 to 2023.

In January 2025, the Pedestrian and Bicycle Crash Data by County webpage was updated to display the latest provisional data from the Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS) and the Transportation Injury Mapping System (TIMS) on pedestrian and bicycle crash data in California counties from 2023 and 2024 Q3 (January to September). The provisional data only contain records added to the I-SWITRS website by the California Highway Patrol up until Dec 17, 2024 and are subject to change. Therefore, they should not be directly compared to the number of crashes in previous years.

The webpage includes time series, interactive maps, and tables that give an overview on state and countywide trends in pedestrian and bicycle crashes, serious injuries, and fatalities. All data visualization tools on the webpage can be downloaded in various file formats by clicking on the icon at the upper right-hand corner.

We have started including partial-year SWITRS data for the current year with a 3-month delay. Currently, TIMS includes SWITRS data up to crashes that occurred on Sept 30, 2024.

For more specific data on pedestrian and bicycle crashes, the TIMS ATP Maps & Summary Data Tool allows users to filter crash data within specified city, community, and project limits.
