The Pedestrian and Bicycle Information Center (PBIC) will be hosting a free webinar on Monday, December 11, 2017 to discuss the safety effectiveness of contermeasures and the value of crash modification factors for bicycle and pedestrian safety:
WEBINAR INFORMATION
TITLE: Determining the Safety Impacts of Bicycling and Walking Investments
DATE/TIME: Monday, December 11, 2017; 10:00am - 11:30am PST
Register for the webinar.
To improve safety for pedestrians and bicyclists, transportation professionals typically look to a toolbox of countermeasures that are proven to reduce crashes. Determining the safety effectiveness of a countermeasure, however, is a complex process. During this webinar, researchers from the UNC Highway Safety Research Center will discuss the value of crash modification factors (CMFs), which quantify a countermeasure’s ability to reduce crashes involving bicyclists and pedestrians. Panelists will explore methods for conducting high quality safety evaluation and provide tips for determining the effects of safety improvements.
Panelists:
- Daniel Carter, Senior Research Engineer, UNC Highway Safety Research Center
- Raghavan Srinivasan, Senior Research Engineer, UNC Highway Safety Research Center
