On January 18th, 2018 America Walks will present the second episode in their new Walking Toward Justice Webinar Series, "The Criminal Justice System's Impact on Walking and Walkability in Low-Income and Communities of Color." This quarterly event provides an opportunity to discuss and identify solutions for improving walkability for all with an interactive panel of leading scholars, activists, practitioners, America Walks Board members, and policymakers.

This webinar will explore the devastating impacts that social injustice within our legal system has had on people of color and low-income communities. Using the text, The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness by Michelle Alexander as a framework for the conversation, a panel of experts and advocates will discuss discrimination within the criminal justice system and how it intersects with the work (e.g., Vision Zero, safety outreach and education, equitable enforcement, etc.) being done by walkability advocates.
