The Pedestrian and Bicycle Information Center (PBIC) is hosting an upcoming webinar series highlighting the newly updated American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) fifth edition of its Guide for the Development of Bicycle Facilities. The guide provides information on the planning, design, and operation of bikeways along streets, roads, and highways, as well as on off-street paths in urban, suburban, and rural settings. Part 1: Evolution of bicycle infrastructure and the AASHTO Bike Guide
Thursday, June 26, 2025, 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. PT

This episode will introduce the historical context, design philosophy, and planning tools and principles. Learn more and register for Part 1. 

Part 2: Design principles of high-comfort bikeways
Thursday, July 31, 2025, 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. PT

This episode will discuss design recommendations and principles for developing safe and comfortable streets for bicyclists, including sight distances, separated bike lanes, and bike boulevards. Learn more and register for Part 2.

Part 3: Additional adavances in bicycling design
