In this online training, Pedal Love will focus on how to build a successful media outreach strategy that lasts throughout the year, not just for one event. The training will be broken down into four topics:

  1. Why your organization needs a media or newsroom;
  2. How do create successful ongoing rapport with reporters and editors;
  3. How to position yourself as a thought leader with the media; and
  4. A peer exchange of ideas on what worked well for participants in regards to the media outreach they did for Word Day of Remembrance 2023 and what they’d like to do next.

Those who are a victim or a survivor of traffic violence who feels ready to collaborate with active and shared mobility advocates or advocacy organizations that work with victims and survivors are encouraged to attend the training.

You can attend the training via Zoom and those who attend will receive a handful of tools, including a recording of the class. Register now to attend.

The first media training, World Day of Remembrance and Beyond, was recorded for anyone interested in accessing it. In the training, the facilitators covered 1) Understanding today's media and how to successfully connect with them, 2) How to choose the right stories and storytellers to pitch to the media, 3) How to successfully deliver your message, and 4) The Op-Ed as a strategic media relations tool.

The Role of Media and Road Safety
Effective communications about road safety, whether in the media, in safety campaign materials or in community outreach efforts play an important role in ensuring the safe mobility for all road users. How the public thinks about the problem of traffic injury and fatalities and what can be done about it is significantly influenced by how the media reports on it.
