UPCOMING WEBINARS

Systemic Pedestrian Safety Analysis and Risk Based Prioritization by the Transportation Research Board

February 4, 2019|10:00 – 11: 30 a.m. // Registration

This webinar describes how transportation agencies can utilize a systemic approach to pedestrian safety by outlining its process and needs. A systemic approach, as opposed to a “hot-spot” approach, enables transportation agencies to identify, prioritize, and select appropriate countermeasures for locations with a high risk of pedestrian-related crashes. Presenters will discuss how some jurisdictions have begun to collect and analyze data types, how they have dealt with constraints, and how they have incorporated systemic approaches into their safety programs. They will also share examples of databases, screening tools, and systemic prioritization processes.

Street Story: A Platform for Community Engagement by the Active Transportation Research Center

February 5, 2019|10:00 – 11: 30 a.m. // Registration

Please join the Active Transportation Resource Center for an educational webinar demonstrating UC Berkeley Safe Transportation Research and Education Center's (SafeTREC) Street Story, a new web-based community engagement tool that empowers residents, community groups and agencies to crowd-course data about collisions, near-misses, general hazards and safe locations to travel in their daily lives.

Adapting Shoreline Infrastructure to Sea Level Rise and Extreme Events by the Transportation Research Board

February 6, 2019|11:00 a.m. – 12: 30 p.m. // Registration

How can we plan for more climate-resilient infrastructure? This webinar explores how transportation planners might adapt infrastructure to the threats of imminent sea level rise and other changes in natural systems. Case studies from transportation corridors in California and Georgia will be discussed. This webinar was organized by the TRB Standing Committee on Ecology and Transportation.
