National Bike to School Day

The National Center for Safe Routes to School invites you to celebrate the joy of active commuting while building a sense of community and school spirit. Families, neighborhoods and schools can register their own events and celebrate any day in May! To learn more about this event, click here.

The Active Transporation Resource Center has provided an online course, "Bicycle Transportation: Basic Principles of Planning & Design." Check out our news item about this course and where you can learn more information. 


Bicycling Safety Tips

For bicyclists:

  • Always wear a helmet.
  • Travel in the same direction of traffic and go with the flow of traffic.
  • Be sure to use hand signals when stopping or turning.

For drivers:

  • Avoid distractions; never use your phone while driving.
  • Always be cautious of your surroundings and follow the speed limit.
  • Never drive under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
