Applications are now being accepted for the 2018 Sustainable Communities Program through the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG)! The program recognizes sustainable solutions to local growth challenges and has resulted in local plans that promote sustainability through the integration of transportation and land use.

Do you live in Nevada County? Get involved and share your input on the development of the new Active Transportation Plan (ATP)! The Nevada County Transportation Commission (NCTC), in coordination with the County of Nevada, City of Grass Valley, City of Nevada City, and Town of Truckee is in the process of developing the plan, which will evaluate pedestrian and bicycle needs, and identify and prioritize active transportation recommendations by jurisdiction.

With the new school year around the corner, we have to make sure our bicycles are equipped and ready to go! Bike Bakersfield is hosting Back to School Bike Rodeo on August 1 & 3 from 9 AM to 11 AM at Holloway-Gonazales Library in Bakersfield, CA. Bike Bakersfield is offering free bike maintenance and a helmet giveaway. They will have pumps, bike tubes and other equipment to help the kids. Participants will learn safety rules and how to safely navigate traffic and avoid hazards.

Caltrans District 4 has released the first-ever Bike Plan for the San Francisco Bay Area! The report provides a summary of the process that was undertaken to develop the Plan, which included gathering input from local and regional partners and stakeholders, as well as conducting public outreach efforts like an online mapping survey, focus group meetings, community workshops, and an online comment tool.
