TRB’s recently published Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, No. 2587 consists of 17 papers that explore issues related to bicycles and motorcycles, including:

Caltrans has recently released “Toward an Active California,” the Draft California State Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan. The public is invited to provide comments (by March 1st) through their online comment tool or by attending an upcoming meetings/webinar. Caltrans will be hosting four meetings across the state from February 23- March 1, 2017.

Caltrans Active Transportation Resource Center will host a webinar entitled, “Public Health Partners in California’s Active Transportation Program Development and Implementation” on Dec.9, 2016.

The City of Berkeley and its residents are updating the 2005 Bicycle Plan to help make bicycling safer and more convenient for people of all ages and skill levels.

The next Public Input meeting will be on December 13th.

Beginning December 5, 2016, the Office of Traffic Safety (OTS)will start accepting online applications for grants scheduled to start on October 1, 2017. OTS will launch a new electronic grant system GEMS (Grant Electronic Management System). 

The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and the Pedestrian and Bicycle Information Center (PBIC) will host a free webinar to showcase new research findings on the safety effectiveness of safety countermeasures for improving pedestrian safety at uncontrolled locations.

Get on the #WalkingSchoolBus! New Safe Routes to School National Partnership toolkit can help you start or grow a program at your school! 
This toolkit is designed to help parents, educators, and community members plan and organize a walking school bus using adult volunteers as leaders. 

The first CA State Bicycle & Pedestrian Plan is taking shape & needs your input through a short questionnaire.
Visit Caltrans to fill out the questionnaire. English and Spanish forms are included.
The questionnaire will close on November 6, 2016.
