A woman walks across a speed limit street sign, the flyer reads "Go Human Community Streets Grant Program. Awards up to $30,000."

Last week, SCAG launched their 2024 Community Streets Grant program to support projects that implement traffic safety strategies through community engagement. The program will award 12 grantees up to $30,000 to fund their traffic safety projects within the SCAG region, which encompasses the counties of Imperial, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and Ventura.

The program aims to build street-level community resiliency and increase the safety of people most harmed by traffic injuries and fatalities both locally and across Southern California. Each project should leverage and build community leadership that is committed to traffic safety and prioritize historically excluded or disinvested communities, mobility justice, disability justice and rural community investment. Projects can include elements of messaging, education, engagement activities, leadership development, community assessment or resource distribution.

The program is eligible to:

  • Community-Based Organizations;

  • Non-Profits; and

  • Social Enterprises.

Applications are due February 2, 2024 and anyone interested can apply online today! To find program guidelines, the scoring rubric, and more information, visit the program website
