On Wednesday, October 6, schools across the United States will celebrate National Walk to School Day. Registration is now open and anyone is welcome to join! You can register schools, neighborhoods or families to pledge to walk to school so you can celebrate in the safest way possible under your current public health guidelines.
Accessing crash data plays an important role in assessing the safety needs and concerns for people walking and biking in our communities. To support those working to advance pedestirian and bicycle safety, we have recently updated our County Data: Pedestrian & Bike Collisions webpage with the latest crash data, including county-specific pedestrian and bicycle collision data from 2016 - 2020 (SWITRS 2016 - 2020/Provisional 2019 - 2020 update as of September, 2021).
As we near two years into the COVID-19 pandemic, agencies are now releasing data on its impact for people walking.
The League of American Bicyclists has released their bi-annual call for applications for their Bicycle Friendly Community Awards. This year’s application period ends September 1 for Communities, October 1 for Universities and October 5 for Businesses.
